Hello guys! We just finished a cool project that we would like to share with you guys! It’s a Custom Restomod Tourer Project. Born as a Mountain Bike restored and converted to a Touring Bicycle. Let’s start off with some photos.
The bicycle came in as a complete bicycle but nothing works anymore except for the old trusty Araya HEVP20 26 X 1.5 rims with Shimano hubs. And the classic looking Panaracer Fire XC Pro tyres looks so damn good on it!
So we stripped down the original paint job, rust treated the whole frame, adding on primer, two colours fade design, and finally two layers of gloss top coat.
As the original Shimano 18 Speed Groupset was no longer in working condition, we decided to source for 1990s New Old Stock Shimano Tourney SY20A shifter, Shimano Tourney TY10 Front Derailleur, Shimano Tourney TY15 Rear Derailleur, and Sugino Crankset! That will upgrade the 18 Speed Groupset to an 21 Speed one.
The coolest stuff on this bike is the Shimano Cantilever brake with SunTour Japan Power Hanger that allows the left and right position of the brake shoes to be perfect. Good for OCD guys like me LOL.
And yes we know, running an odd shaped KMC K810 chain on this baby is cool as hell! And to finish this off, we added the important component, a classic bell. And it’s not any classic bell, it’s a brass bell by Crane Japan!
As a Touring Bicycle, how can we leave out the most important component which is the rear rack? Introducing Topeak Super Tourist DX! And you can buy Topeak Super Tourist DX here.
And the magic of this Topeak Super Tourist DX rear carrier is that it can accommodate quick attachment or detachment of the pannier bag with a slider rail built into it!
And lastly, let’s look at the beautiful yet highly functional Topeak MTX Trunkbag DXP! And of course, you can buy Topeak MTX Trunkbag DXP here!
When it’s fully extended, it can carry 25kg fully loaded!
And it’s designed to attached Topeak rear safety lights at ease! Shown here is Topeak RedLite Mega.
Ok that’s all for now. We’re going back to look at the beautiful bicycle we had restored, custom painted, and drool… And, you can contact us if you have an old bicycle that you want to restore / restomod / custom paint. Or simply, you can book our On-Site Bicycle Repair and Service here.
